What is mudjacking?
A plain-English overview.
Mudjacking (also called slabjacking) is the traditional way to lift settled concrete. A cement-based slurry is pumped through 1½- to 2-inch holes beneath the slab, filling voids and raising the concrete back toward grade. It has been used since the 1930s and still earns its keep on very large or heavily-loaded industrial slabs — but for most residential work, polyurethane foam is now the cleaner, faster choice.
- Lower material cost per cubic foot than foam.
- Well-suited to large industrial and warehouse slabs.
- Decades of proven service history.
Signs you may need this service
How to tell if your slab is a candidate.
- ✓Very large slabs where cost per volume matters most.
- ✓Heavy industrial floors where added slurry weight is acceptable.

Common causes
Why concrete settles in the first place.
Most slab settlement is driven by what's happening beneath the concrete — not the concrete itself. Fix the cause and the fix lasts.
- Poor soil compaction beneath the original pour.
- Water from downspouts, gutters or broken drain lines washing out the sub-base.
- Freeze / thaw cycles opening voids under the slab.
- Tree roots and vegetation shifting the soil beneath the concrete.
- Loose fill material that has settled over time.
Repair vs. replacement
Why homeowners choose repair instead of replacement.
Lifting reuses the concrete you already have — for a fraction of the cost, disruption and mess of a tear-out and repour.
- Concrete leveling is often less costly and less disruptive than tear-out and replacement.
- Reuses the concrete you already have — no color mismatch with a fresh pour.
- Modern polyurethane foam lifting for precise, controlled results.
- Honest recommendations — if replacement is the better call, we'll say so.

Frequently asked questions
Homeowner questions about mudjacking.
- When would you recommend mudjacking over foam?
- Typically only on very large or heavily-loaded industrial slabs where material cost per volume dominates the decision. We'll always tell you honestly which method fits.
- Is concrete lifting cheaper than replacement?
- Concrete leveling is often less costly and less disruptive than tear-out and replacement. Final pricing depends on slab size, access, and condition — we provide a fixed written quote after a free inspection.
- How soon can we use the slab again?
- Many surfaces can be returned to service shortly after lifting. Project-specific timing will be explained during the estimate.
- Will lifting damage the concrete or landscaping?
- Ports are dime-sized and patched. Crews work carefully around plants, hardscape and finishes — most jobs leave the site looking as it did before, except level.
